The success of the RBS’ Manchester-based HR Services made the city an obvious choice when deciding on the location for their shared services centre.
The company moved into Manchester’s Spinningfields area at the beginning of 2005, which forms part of a new city centre business district, one of the largest in Europe.
The initial decision RBS made to select Manchester as the location for its HR Shared Services centre in 2000 was based on an existing successful Manchester presence, the excellent available workforce, the ability to expand within the accommodation and the existing skills and experience of the RBS group team in Manchester.
The site is in the heart of the City close to all the shopping, leisure and cultural attractions and is at the hub of a vibrant Manchester city life. It also made sense to move staff into significantly fewer and higher quality buildings to help them work more effectively together.
As the City offers a diverse skill-set, RBS has succeeded in getting the right people for the job through its strong relationships with local recruitment agencies.
Richard Topliss, Regional Director, Corporate Banking, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group says: “Manchester offers a quality of life arguably better than many other major cities in the UK.”
