Event Details:
Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes designed around the needs of employers, and lead to national recognised qualifications. Apprenticeships are available for employers of all sizes and from all sectors. They are a proven way to train a workforce and can make an organisation more effective, productive and competitive by directly addressing skill gaps.
Manchester City Council, in partnership with the National Apprenticeship Service, The Manchester College, Skills Solutions and Jobcentre Plus, is committed to helping Manchester employers train the skilled workforce they need. We see apprenticeships as a way of achieving this.
The Apprenticeship Breakfast Events will demonstrate how apprenticeships can assist businesses to grow, build a stronger economy, and embed sustainable growth.
A recent Council survey of Manchester businesses revealed that only 17 per cent employ apprentices and 14 per cent were likely to do so in the near future. Research among businesses that do employ apprentices shows that:
→ More than 80 per cent agree they make their workplace more productive.
→ 92 per cent believe that apprenticeships lead to a more motivated and satisfied workforce.
→ 83 per cent rely on their apprenticeship programme to provide the skilled workers they need for the future.
→ One in five is hiring more apprentices to help in the tough economic climate.
