Enabling Employee Engagement

Employee engagement is emerging as the master key that unlocks performance. Research shows that without engagement all the clever HR policies in the world will fail to deliver sustained competitive advantage. The importance of employee engagement is now acknowledged by the government. More than half a million civil servants are taking part in Britains largest-ever employee engagement survey. This comes hot on the heels of the publication of the Macleod Review, an in-depth report looking at the potential benefits of engagement commissioned by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). Our conference focuses on the nature of employee engagement, at its key enablers and at common barriers to engagement.

Key-note address

Engaging for Success: enhancing performance through employee engagement – Nita Clarke, Director of the Involvement and Participation Association. Nita is co-author with David Macleod of the BIS commissioned report Engaging for Success, published in 2009.

Implementing Employee Engagement

The Engaging Manager: characteristics of engaging line managers- Dr Dilys Robinson, Principal Research Fellow, Institute for Employment Studies. Dilys has been researching employee engagement since 2003, focusing on the crucial role of the line manager relationship in creating effective employee engagement.
