Calling all Orthopaedic Surgeons, Physiotherapists and Sports Therapists
The University of Salford would like to invite Orthopaedic Surgeons, Physiotherapists and Sports Therapists to Salford’s Running Performance Clinic on Monday, 12th January (16:30-19:30), to a demonstration of how the Clinic’s services can enhance and support patient treatment and recovery.
The Clinic offers Orthopaedic Surgeons a unique insight into the movement patterns which are often the root cause of running related injuries.
Physiotherapists and Sports Therapists can benefit from the Clinic’s state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques for detecting movement related problems.
These problems are documented in a report which the therapist can then use to develop focused treatment programmes.
The Running Performance Clinic has been developed as a result of research conducted at the University, which characterised the running styles of a large number of high performing but injury-free elite athletes.
This research has allowed the Clinic to develop a unique approach to identifying potential problem areas with individual running styles, and allows us to suggest personalised exercise routines which therapists can use to speed up patients’ recovery from injury and help reduce injury risk.
On the day, one attendee will be given the chance to undergo a free gait analysis test. While waiting for the results, visitors will be given a talk on the full range of services the Clinic offers and a demonstration of the drills which can be used by Physiotherapists and Sports therapists to improve running performance.
Refreshments will be provided.
