TrusTECH
Established in 2001, TrusTECH is tasked with managing innovation from around 60 NHS Trusts across the Northwest of England. Its expertise include but are not limited to:
• Matching NHS innovations with industry for commercialisation
• Providing access to the clinical base that companies need
TrusTECH is ideally placed to connect the NHS with the latest academic research and commercial technologies and works to develop and support partnerships between the NHS, industry and academia, to encourage innovative product development. Through a range of consultancy services, TrusTECH provides access to the clinical base that companies in the healthcare sector need to develop a market-leading product.
In conjunction with MIDAS, TrusTECH conducted a research study ‘Manchester – Health is our Business’ to examine key factors, which have affected the location of a healthcare organisation in Manchester City Region. A range of qualitative research methods were utilised including interviews with a focus sample of 30 companies concentrating on questions relating to their location in Manchester.

The Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC)

Manchester Integrating Medicine and Innovative Technologies (MIMIT)
MIMIT facilitates collaborations between clinicians, scientists, engineers and industry to improve patient outcomes by bringing innovative technology developments to fruition.
ACTNoW
Helping to accelerate new pharmaceuticals and medical devises into the market place.
National Technology Adoption Hub
With Manchester chosen as the pilot site in the UK; the aim of the adoption hub is to identify the challenges of adopting new technologies into clinical practices and in conjunction with NHS Trusts aims to increase the adoption of new technologies in all areas of the NHS.
Core Technology Facility
A four-storey building intended to complement the existing incubator facility by providing additional turnkey laboratory modules, flexi-lab areas for “grow-on”, meeting rooms and conferencing facilities.
North West Institute of Bio/Health Informatics (NIBHI)
A collaborative venture between the Universities of Manchester, Liverpool, Lancaster, Central Lancashire, Salford, Liverpool John Moores University and AstraZeneca to facilitate the application of Bio-Health Informatics theory into practice.
Nowgen
One of six Genetics Knowledge Parks (GKPs) funded by the Departments of Health and Trade & Industry that have been established across the UK to ensure that the outcomes of human genetics research are successfully applied.
UK Biobank
A long-term national project to build the world’s largest information resource for medical researchers. It will follow the health of 500,000 volunteers aged 40-69 in the UK for up to 30 years.
Northwest Exemplar
The Northwest is spearheading a national initiative in clinical trials and has been designated the UK’s Exemplar region.
Demonstrating improved clinical trial performance; the first seven studies have received NHS permission in an average of 50 days, a figure which compares very favourably to the industry standard of 70 days.
