Salford

Salford is a city in transformation, moving into an exciting future as a thriving cultural, business and residential location. From urban buzz to greenbelt tranquility, Salford is building on the diversity of its waterfront, urban and countryside environments to create places where people want to live, work, invest and visit.

The successful transformation of the former derelict Manchester Docks into the award winning Salford Quays has been a catalyst for regeneration across the city. This will soon be further enhanced by mediacity:uk, the UK’s first purpose built media city and new home for a number of key BBC departments.

Salford’s New Deal for Communities programme in Charlestown and Lower Kersal has set new standards for the engagement of local people in regeneration; and public-private partnerships are helping to realise the city’s massive potential, particularly in communities such as Seedley & Langworthy, Broughton, Irwell Riverside and Ordsall.

Salford Quays

In 2007, the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Affordable Affluence Index rated Salford as the fifth best place to live in the UK based on affordability and lifestyle: listing Salford as having ‘exceptional lifestyle indicators’. In addition, the Salford Annual Business Survey 2007, demonstrated that confidence amongst Salford businesses is high with over two thirds expecting their businesses to grow over the next twelve months.
