Public Sector Relocation

Manchester has a long tradition of supporting the public sector with many non-departmental Government bodies such as the British Council, General Medical Council (GMC) and Ofsted in the city, as well as DWP and HMRC having a significant presence in the region. Manchester provides an excellent environment for the delivery and sustainability of high quality services with experienced, innovative and energetic professionals who are the envy of other cities.

Manchester has a complementary service sector offer to London. Connectivity between the two cities is first class, now with three trains an hour, and by utilising facilities in both locations, organisations can maximise operational efficiency and improve overall performance.

Manchester is a city that celebrates its diversity with a proud history of openness and inclusiveness that has enabled a wide range of community members to contribute to the city’s character and to its success. With one of the most diverse populations outside London and the office of Equality and Human Rights Commission, Manchester continues to develop a vibrant workforce.

In recent years Manchester has proven to be a successful location for a number of public sector agencies brining over 1,500 new jobs to the region. The British Council, GMC and Ofsted have all chosen Manchester for the relocation of substantial operations from London, with more recent announcements from the BBC, The Standards Board for England, the Training and Development Agency for Schools, NICE, The Arts Council National Support Centre and the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.
