Business is booming at One Central Park

11 March, 2008 – Business is booming at One Central Park

The Technology Centre at One Central Park (OCP) has cause for a double celebration as it announces its first plc and welcomes a new tenant to the Collyhurst site.

Winning Pitch plc, whose headquarters are in msp space at The Technology Centre, recently floated on the stock market with a valuation of £2.5m. The company, provides coaching and support to companies to help grow sales, has shares trading on PLUS – formerly known as the OFEX market.

Foresight Health Ltd, an intermediary that helps firms improve staff performance, has secured several contracts that have enabled the firm to graduate from a single desk in incubator space to occupy 317sq ft at The Technology Centre. Entrepreneur, Michelle Clarke, set up the business in June 2006 as a self-employed broker and within six months had set up her own limited company.

Michelle said: "The Technology Centre has provided the perfect environment for Foresight Health to thrive and the support we have received from msp and UMIC is integral to how quickly we’ve grown. I’m amazed at how things have gone in the last year but I truly believe that if you are passionate about what you do, you have every chance to be successful."

Winning Pitch was founded by John Leach in 2005 and has grown rapidly. Expansion has allowed the company to progress from UMIC incubator space to occupy 984sq ft at The Technology Centre. It works with public sector organisations focused on economic regeneration and development, such as Oldham and Rochdale councils and Manchester-based Business Support Solutions, and counts private firms among its clients.

"Being based at One Central Park has enabled us to catapult the business to the next stage of development. The supportive environment is a fantastic place for aspiring entrepreneurs to innovate and learn, developing their skills, and giving them access to other start-up companies and entrepreneurs on the Park. We found this an integral element to our own rapid growth," said John Leach, CEO.

Winning Pitch said it is looking to raise up to £3m in equity early in 2008 to fund its plans for expansion in Britain and Europe.

The Technology Centre is a joint venture between Manchester Science Parks (msp) and UMIC (University of Manchester Incubator Company).

msp’s Business Development Manager, Jan Hilton said: "OCP is at the heart of East Manchester’s regeneration programme. OCP has been instrumental in creating new and exciting investment opportunities and has been a catalyst for new businesses in the area."

msp, which provides accommodation and business support for technology-based companies, is an internationally recognised centre of excellence and was named the UK Science Park Association’s Outstanding member Park in 2007. Spread across three locations in Manchester, msp is home to over 90 companies and manages more than 300,000 sq ft of office and lab space.
