17 December, 2007 – First occupier signs contract on Rochdale Kingsway lease
Wilson Bowden Developments has exchanged contracts with the first industrial / manufacturing company to relocate to the Kingsway Business Park at Junction 21 of the M62 motorway.
Oldham-based Vindon Scientific, a leading supplier of controlled environmental testing chambers in the UK and Ireland, is opening a new facility of 2,738 sq m (29,480 sq ft).
The unit on Plot E will be fitted out to Vindon’s own specification. Wilson Bowden Developments is providing Vindon with a flexible solution for its specialist facilities on a design & build contract. The unit will be completed in June 2008.
Plot E is the first industrial plot to be developed at Kingsway. The unit to be occupied by Vindon will sit alongside four more units of 1,828 sq m (19,679 sq ft), 3,188 sq m (34,307 sq ft), 3,113 sq m (33,500 sq ft) and 5,193 sq m (55,987 sq ft) which will be ready for occupation between March and June 2008 and are being built on a speculative basis.
Patrick Jackson of Vindon comments "We are very encouraged by the prospect of this new storage and manufacturing facility.
"It will provide the platform for us to pursue our strategy and growth, whilst enabling us to continue to grow our existing client base."
Jane Dobie, Development Manager at Wilson Bowden Developments comments, "It’s gratifying to play a part in the growth of a local company like Vindon. And the level of interest in the remaining units on Plot E remains strong. We hope to find new neighbours for our first occupier shortly.
"This early commitment to Kingsway from the local business sector underlines the strategic importance of the site to the local economy.
"Businesses based here can take advantage of the strong labour pool in the Rochdale area and the free service provided by the Kingsway Recruitment Team.
"The package of benefits on offer to Kingsway occupiers rivals that of any of its competitors throughout the UK."
Erinaceous Group and Jones Lang Lasalle are appointed agents on Kingsway.
