29 February, 2008 – Manchester's HKR named Property Week NW Consultant of the Year
The Manchester office of HKR Architects – the award-winning international architecture and design practice – has been named 'Consultant of the Year' at The Property Week North West Property Awards 2008.
The event, in its second year, took place at Liverpool’s brand new BT Convention Centre and was attended by over 1,200 of the region’s property professionals.
HKR beat off stiff competition from a shortlist of five including DTZ and Savills, as well as two other architectural practices, Fletcher Architects and Buttress Fuller Alsop Williams.
Since HKR opened the doors of its Manchester office in the autumn of 2005, it has grown rapidly to become the architectural practice of choice for most commercial developers in the region.
Throughout 2007 key appointments include: Allied London, Artisan, Bruntwood, CTP, HBG Properties, UK Land and, most recently, Ask Developments for the first phase of its Boddingtons Brewery Mixed-use scheme.
Directors at the Manchester office of HKR Jon Matthews and Phil Doyle commented: "We’re delighted to receive this accolade, particularly as it was in-part voted for by our industry peers.
"This award is recognition of the Manchester team that we have built up over the last two years and the unstinting efforts of that team."
HKR hopes that its good fortune continues, when next month at MIPIM 2008, no less than four of its designs will be showcased in the 3D Digital Manchester Model, one if which is The Hive – HKR’s design for Argent plc and what will be Manchester’s ‘greenest’ office building.
The scheme has been shortlisted in the office category of the Architectural Review ‘Future Projects’ Awards, the winner of which will be announced on the evening of Wednesday, 12th March.
