13 February, 2008 – University of Bolton to offer free fast-track business courses
Starting in April, the University of Bolton is to run a series of free ‘fast-track’ courses in business management. The courses, run by the Business, Logistics, Innovation and Systems (BLIS) Research Centre at the university, will take the form of intensive two-day workshops and will be held on Fridays and Saturdays to minimise work interruption.
Students on the course may submit an assignment and take an exam later in the year. Remote support, via an online learning environment, is provided and credits from the exams can be carried forward to a Master’s Degree in Business Information Systems or Supply Chain Management.
Dr Vedanthachari, senior lecturer in Enterprise Systems, commented: “These courses are for business professionals working full-time who may not have the opportunity to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the business world.
“They are designed to make the most of the time available with the minimum of interruption to the students’ business and professional life.”
The courses, which will be held at the university’s Deane Campus from April, cover five subject areas:
- Enterprise Systems Management
- Information and Knowledge Management
- Procurement and Operations Management
- Supply Chain Management
- Problem Solving and Innovation Management
