20 February, 2008 – US manufacturing guru to make rare UK appearance in Manchester
American manufacturing mastermind Dr Richard J. Schonberger promises 'eye-opening' comments on the state of global manufacturing when he makes a rare appearance in the UK on Friday 7th March to give a Masterclass at Manchester's Manufacturing Institute.
‘World Class Manufacturing: Best Practices in Process Improvement’ is Richard’s warts-and-all study of lean based on more than 15 years of data from some 1,260 large companies in 33 industrial sectors across 37 countries.
Masterclass attendees will receive valuable benchmarking and best-practice models, based on Dr Schonberger’s research and interviews with companies such as Altro Group, BAE Systems, Johnson Matthey, GKN, Pilkington, Reckitt Benckiser, Scottish & Newcastle, Spirax-Sarco, Unilever, Cadbury Schweppes, Bunzl, GlaxoSmithKline, Smith & Nephew and Northern Foods.
Richard Schonberger was an industrial engineer for eight years before spending 14 years as professor in management information systems and operations management at the University of Nebraska.
He has presented to industrial and business organisations globally since 1981, is the author of several best-selling books on related lean topics, and of more than 150 articles in a wide range of academic and business publications.
