Auto Trader, the UK’s biggest online motoring destination, has today announced the relocation of its 600 strong North West team to one central, purpose designed, site in Manchester city centre.
The phased relocation will take place over the next five months, with the first staff likely to be in situ mid May. The relocation will create new job opportunities for the city, with Auto Trader launching a #SayHelloManchester outdoor, print and online recruitment campaign alongside the move with the ambition to fill the roles. Applicants should visit: autotrader.co.uk to find out more.
The team, currently based in seven offices across Salford Quays, Warrington, Chester and Newton-Le-Willow will move to Manchester’s First Street development, let by Ask Developments. Claremont Group Interiors will provide the interior design and build solution, worth circa £4m. The interior design concept includes four cars and two vans, selected by Auto Trader employees, which will be craned in to the office and provide creative and collaborative work spaces.
Trevor Mather, CEO at Auto Trader said: “Auto Trader is making a considerable investment to ensure that the employee offering matches up to the brand ambition. With the planned amenities at First Street, and the cultural and leisure opportunities that Manchester offers, we are confident we can continue to grow the business and bring in the best UK talent.”
Ann Clarke, joint managing director of Claremont Group Interiors said: “This project is as much about bringing all their people together in one collaborative space as it is redefining Trader Media Group’s business and supporting new ways of working. The move away from print to online isn’t just about their ‘end-product’ but how they work too and the office needs to reflect those changes in behaviours and practices. The end result will be a truly dynamic and inspirational place to work.
“Trader Media Group is high profile and their requirements have been known in the market for some time so this is a highly coveted win for us. It’s the result of tremendous hard work and creativity from the team and a fantastic start to 2014.”
John Hughes, Managing Director of Ask Developments, commented, “We are delighted to welcome Auto Trader to Number One First Street and also to kick-start the New Year with a 60,000 sq ft letting. We are also hopeful of being in a position to announce further letting news in the coming weeks. The strong performance and interest in Number One First Street clearly proves that the ambitious First Street development will be a key driver for Manchester in the years to come and will provide attractive opportunities for both existing and inward occupiers to the City Centre.”
