Bury-based seal manufacturer Roxtec has won the contract to supply seals to an upgrade the longest-established LNG receiving terminal in the UK.
Swedish-owned Roxtec will supply cable penetration seals for the phase 3 upgrade of the of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Receiving Terminal on the Isle of Grain in Kent.
The project involves the building of a second jetty and the construction of two large local equipment rooms (LER). The LER’s control the process plant that returns liquefied natural gas back to natural gas before forwarding it to the National Grid.
“Roxtec is used on the LER buildings to safeguard against fire and blast for cables passing through the walls,” says Graham O’Hare, Managing Director of Roxtec UK. “Personnel and expensive control equipment are properly protected through the life cycle of the plant.”
