There are less than 60 days to go to the Shanghai Expo 2010 which is expected to attract around 70 million visitors and will showcase the cultural and economic vibrancy of the world’s leading urban centres and nations.
Running from May to October 2010, it is the first World Expo that will welcome individual cities alongside nation states.
The exhibition will promote the Northwest to a massive international audience and is expected to provide business opportunities for 240 Northwest businesses. The expo is expected to be the largest ever held with an estimated 70 million visitors over six months.
Steven Broomhead, Chief Executive of the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), which is supporting for the Northwest delegation, said: “This six month world expo will provide businesses in the Northwest with a unique opportunity to promote themselves to the expanding Chinese economy. Our support for the Expo will ensure this opportunity is open to the entire Northwest business community and will help generate greater outcomes for our region, including inward investment, an increase in trade, and an influx in tourism.”
