The team behind Manchester Central Convention Complex is celebrating after being honoured with a top award. The centre was named UK Venue of the Year at the Association of Event Organisers (AEO) Awards. It comes after £30 million was spent on redeveloping facilities at the venue to attract a wider range of events.
The centre will host the Labour Party Conference this year – where the new party leader will be announced – and has seen various groups commit to using it for their events over the next few years. The Soccerex European Forum, The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and the Vascular Annual Conference have all committed to using the venue.
Manchester Central’s chief executive, Lesley Tomlinson, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award in recognition of not only our great venue, but also the fantastic team we have at Manchester Central.
“We are very proud to have delivered exceptional results this year against a backdrop of a rapidly changing market.”
