Leading doughnut company Krispy Kreme UK has selected Heywood Distribution Park for its first specific manufacturing unit in the UK.
The move to Heywood Distribution Park is the latest stage of the company’s rapid expansion and the new facility will enable it to expand its presence across the Northwest. The unit will house a manufacturing line and processing kitchen with the ability to produce 3,000 doughnuts an hour.
Rob Hunt, Chief Financial Officer at Krispy Kreme UK, said: “We looked at a number of industrial parks across the Northwest but Heywood proved to be the perfect location for us, not only because of its fantastic transport links but also because it is brand new and therefore, highly suitable for food grade use. This move is the next step for our expansion plans to double the number of stores in the next five years”
Jane Leedham, Leasing Manager at Heywood Distribution Park, said: “We are extremely pleased that Krispy Kreme chose Heywood Distribution Park for its new UK manufacturing facility, especially as this will be the first of its kind in the country. We have developed an excellent relationship with the team at Krispy Kreme, which is extremely important to us, and we have worked hard to ensure we meet all of the company’s requirements.”
