Premier Foods, the UK's largest food producer with brands including Hovis, Branston and Mr Kipling is to open a brand new Shared Service Centre right in the heart of Manchester.
The new Shared Service Centre (Premier Business Services) will bring together Premier Foods’ key finance and administration activities, including reporting, general ledger, credit management, accounts payable and payroll, under one roof for the first time in a move designed to improve business processes and performance.
The opening of Premier Business Services will create around 200 new jobs in finance administration as well as 40 new jobs for SAP professionals in a new centre of excellence for the ongoing development and support for this key Information Technology platform.
MIDAS played a key role in helping Premier Foods make this significant move to Manchester, joining a number of already established Shared Service Centres servicing their respective company’s financial processing needs. MIDAS proved the business case for coming to the city region, provided help in finding the right premises and introduced the company to recruitment firms.
Commenting on the move David Rattigan, Premier Foods’ Director of Financial Control for Premier Business Services said: “Premier Business Services will become a centre of excellence for admin support to the entire Premier Foods Group and will provide better business processes both internally and between Premier foods and its customers and suppliers. The scale of our business has changed dramatically in recent years and the creation of Premier Business Services reflects this growth.
“We’ve had tremendous support from the team at MIDAS in helping us make this important step for Premier Foods”
Colin Sinclair, Chief Executive of Manchester’s investment agency, MIDAS said: "This is another big company choosing Manchester as the best location for its shared service centre joining the ever growing cluster in the region. Premier Foods has shown confidence in the people here in Manchester to deliver cost savings and operational efficiencies in these turbulent times. We’re proud that Manchester came top of Premier Foods’ list after their UK-wide search for a suitable city and will continue to support their significant investment through the unique North West Shared Services Forum."
