R Fundraising, the Scottish based donor recruitment and retention agency, has selected Manchester as the location for its newest contact centre
The new centre will be fully operational in April 2014 and will employ the equivalent of 50 full-time members of staff. The Manchester base will operate in addition to its 200-strong Scottish hub, which is now working at full capacity.
R Fundraising supports a variety of charities’ fundraising initiatives through donor recruitment and stewardship. Its ‘donor investment programme’ offers charities including The Association for International Cancer Research (AICR), Save the Children and a number of national and regional charities a positive return, with new, loyal cash and committed donors.
Following a successful trial period in a temporary office with just 16 seats from April 2013, the R Fundraising team were put in touch with Investment and Development Agency (MIDAS), through Manchester based recruitment consultants Search Recruitment. As a result, both organisations have been working together since September 2013 to identify and secure a suitable 3,000sq ft location for the centre in the city’s Piccadilly area.
The new office will be based in Boulton House on Chorlton Street, a location ideal for public transport connections within the city and beyond, ensuring that the team are close to their growing London client base. Added to this, there is an opportunity to grow and upscale as R Fundraising will initially be running the centre during the evenings and at weekends.
Steve Boyd, R Fundraising’s managing director, said: “We’re delighted to be launching our presence in England with a new customer contact centre in Manchester. Our strategy is to ensure the very best return for the charities and an excellent service for their donors.
“Manchester offers everything we need, and has the added attraction of a thriving, well-established, business service industry. Following a short term trial, we saw the benefits almost instantly with highly qualified staff, and an efficiency increase of around 20% by opening evenings and weekends only.
Boyd praised MIDAS which made a compelling case for Manchester. MIDAS helped R Fundraising to not only find suitable premises, but is also supporting the company with recruitment and local marketing.
Tim Newns, chief executive of MIDAS, said: “The scale of Manchester’s business services industry is vast and its reputation and history is strong, attracting worldwide businesses such as Aegis and Ethiad. R Fundraising is a growing business and the prime example of the kind of organisation we wish to attract to Manchester. MIDAS is working closely with the business to help them take full advantage of the entire city and all that it has to offer.”
