Salford media graduate Nic Jackson is celebrating the national success of his latest music video for Marple rock band The Maple State – filmed on location at The Stockport Plaza.
Despite being only 20 and fresh from an HND in media production, Nic’s new nine-strong video production company, Serious Feather, filmed the band’s latest single release, Temperate Lives – to critical acclaim.
The video surpassed the likes of bands the Ting Tings and REM to reach number six in the MTV2 MySpace chart, and has been added to MTV’s exclusive playlist where it is currently being viewed across the UK.
Nic said: "We’re all recent graduates and this was the first music video we’ve produced so we were a little nervous. But the band members were all really friendly and we’re extremely pleased with the result.
"Being added to MTV’s playlist and reaching number six in the charts is fantastic and we’re really proud of what we’ve achieved."
Technical director Nic set up Serious Feather last year while he was completing his HND at Salford University and has since recruited eight like-minded young graduates into roles such as camera operator, runner and grip. The company is based in Sale, where Nic lives.
He added: "This job was fantastic experience. I’d gained lots of hands-on experience on the Salford course and this enabled me to put everything I’d learnt into practice. We already have other music videos lined up so I’m very excited about the future."
