The Rt Hon Vince Cable arrived at MediaCityUK on Wednesday to visit The Landing – a pioneering digital SME hub supported by BIS. The Landing’s facilities which include Interactive Media Labs and Digital Workflow testing, are uniquely configured for SMEs and freelancers developing tech innovation and content across areas such as Digital Health, connected TV and mobile applications/games.
Jon Corner, CEO at The Landing said “It’s important that government gets the fullest possible picture of MediaCityUK and its position as a global digital player. There’s so much more happening at MediaCityUK than broadcast content. In fact, the growing SME cluster here – nearly 100 businesses and counting – and the innovations they are developing alongside the broadcasters will inform how other sectors will function in the digital age. I’m delighted to welcome the Secretary of State to The Landing to see first-hand how growth companies can leverage our facilities to help them compete internationally.”
The Secretary of State met several businesses at The Landing including LDA and 4DCreative who have both experienced the “MediaCity Effect” with significantly increased profile and future pipeline of creative work. Lucy Perkins, CEO at LDA commented: “We’ve maximised the space, community and technology at The Landing to assist in the growth of our business. Its unique environment has enhanced the overall experience our clients receive.”
