Greater Manchester will be supporting the UK’s first Small Business Saturday on December 7th. Championed in the UK by Chuka Umunna, the Shadow Secretary of State for Business Innovation and Skills, and supported by the Prime Minister, the campaign will highlight small business success and encourage consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.
Originating in the United States, Small Business Saturday is held on the busiest shopping day of the year and last year helped raise the profile of small businesses and their contribution to society, create a massive £3.5bn in sales and increase long-term custom.
As a supporter of this initiative MIDAS will be working in conjunction with the 10 local authorities and the Federation of Small Businesses to encourage people to do business to local businesses in the weeks running up to Saturday 7th December.
