Trevor Millen has been added to the MIDAS team as Strategic Account Director, in a non-executive role, to bolster MIDAS’ work with existing investors throughout the Manchester City Region.
Trevor, a former divisional chief executive of leading canned food and soft drinks importer and manufacturer Princes Group, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation, will work with the business development team at MIDAS to strategically develop relationships with some of Manchester’s key UK and foreign-owned companies.
As well as enhancing relationships with current corporate influencers and investors in Manchester, his role will also include working with key influencers from outside the city region and the UK at European and global head-office level, to help attract further domestic and foreign-direct investment to Manchester.
Trevor has spent more than 30 years in senior positions with consumer goods industries throughout Europe and developed invaluable contacts among institutional shareholders and boardrooms while travelling worldwide in an ambassadorial role.
He said: “Manchester City Region already enjoys worldwide recognition among businesses thanks to the outstanding work and achievements of MIDAS.
“My intention is to build and expand upon that awareness in boardrooms and amongst senior decision makers both in the UK and abroad. I intend to influence the thoughts and plans of chairmen and chief executives considering expansion and or relocation to bring more jobs and investment to the Manchester City Region.”
Colin Sinclair, Chief Executive of MIDAS, said: “We’re delighted to have such a respected corporate player on our team. MIDAS acts as the single point of contact for existing and potential investors and Trevor’s international experience and contacts signals our intent on a truly global basis.”
Trevor moved to the North West in 1996 to join Robert McBride in Middleton as managing director and joined Princes in 1999 where he held several senior positions as divisional chief executive of various parts of the business and as a member of the Princes’ Statutory Directors’ Supervisory Board.
Trevor has been a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) for 12 years and is actively involved in the Manchester branch. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Business Studies from Aston University in Birmingham.
He is married with two children and lives in south Manchester. His interests outside of work include football and music and he is in training for the Manchester 10k run in 2010.
John Marsh, managing director of Altrincham-based Board-level recruitment consultants Robinson Keane, assisted with the search and selection of Trevor.
