Recent findings of a study conducted by Economist Intelligence Unit voted Manchester the ‘Best City to Live in the UK’. The research analysed cities across the world and ranked their livability taking into account factors such as stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure. As one of European’s leading destinations Manchester offers people a great place to live, work, visit and critically, a fantastic environment for business.
Graduate salaries and rental costs in London
A recent article in the Financial Times provides an interesting analysis between graduate salaries and London rental costs. Manchester’s accolade as one of the best UK cities to live (The Economist 2013) is partly due to its competitive living costs. Many professionals (even at the graduate level) are able to live and work in central Manchester also benefiting from low travel costs and close proximity to all retail/leisure amenities.
Manchester outstrips London as most vibrant city to live
Manchester has outstripped London as Britain’s most “vibrant” urban area, according to research by Experian which shows a sharp increase in the young professionals and students moving into the city. Manchester has risen from 21st to 1st in just a decade. The city now has the greatest concentration of young professionals with disposable incomes.
Manchester – One of the fastest growing UK Cities
Over the last decade Manchester has cemented its place in the UK as one of the most thriving cities after its population grew by 19%, almost three times more than the national average. This has been due to significant investment from across both the public and private sector. Many companies have established/relocated operations to the city which has helped attract more workers and students.
