Situated between the City of Manchester and the Peak District, Tameside offers the best of both urban and rural living. The area is conveniently located on Junctions 23 and 24 of the M60 and is within a twenty minute drive of Manchester Airport.

Just ten minutes by train from Manchester City Centre to Tameside’s principal town of Ashton-under-Lyne, the borough lies on both transpennine road and rail routes.

Tameside has a hard working population with 98,000 of working age residents in employment, many of whom are engaged in administrative and secretarial occupations as well as sales and customer service.

Large scale investment in key employment sites reflects the property industry’s confidence in Tameside. Further retail development is planned for Ashton town centre to complement Ikea’s recent investment and the growing number of town centre and waterside apartments across Tameside is providing ample and affordable housing.

Manchester’s universities are within easy reach and the borough hosts one of the top FE colleges in the country. The eight year trend of significant improvement in GCSE attainment level continues with Tameside MBC winning national recognition for its leading work in revolutionising education through technology.
