Greater Manchester’s approach to regeneration is evolving at pace, with Mayoral Development Corporations (MDCs) emerging as a powerful mechanism for unlocking growth, accelerating development and attracting long-term investment. Already active in key locations including Stockport, Old Trafford, Northern Gateway and Middleton, and with further MDCs proposed for Bolton, Ashton and Stalybridge, Oldham and Leigh, the model is fast becoming central to the region’s economic strategy.
This event will take a closer look at how MDCs are reshaping the development landscape across Greater Manchester. It will explore why the model was introduced, how MDCs operate in practice and what sets them apart from more traditional approaches to regeneration. Drawing on real-world examples, the discussion will assess their impact on housing delivery, commercial development, infrastructure investment, job creation and local economic growth.
