The Fettlers development promises to breathe new life into the town centre, with a more vibrant and diverse offer helping to attract new audiences to live, shop, work and visit. We’re creating a new neighbourhood in the heart of Wigan, complete with leisure, bars and restaurants, a Hampton by Hilton hotel, new market hall and more than 400 homes. This neighbourhood, coined ‘Fettlers’ by the people of Wigan, represents our proud heritage and celebrates our unique identity. This is a milestone in our history. The Fettlers brand has been created in collaboration with the people of Wigan, and aims to tell a hopeful, funny and authentic story of our town. Strategic Rationale

Location is a key brownfield site in the town centre and is a key area of the Strategic Regeneration Framework (SRF) published by Wigan Council in 2019. The proposal addresses the unique social, economic and environmental challenges for a key Wigan Town Centre site. The site will be redeveloped to align with a number of national and regional policy objectives. Wigan Town Centre is strategically located between Manchester City Centre, Liverpool and Lancashire.
