Complementing the city’s innovation and expertise in graphene, Greater Manchester is home to an advanced materials cluster with research strengths in technical textiles, surfaces and coatings, composites and light alloys and over £500 million invested into research centres of excellence.

The session will highlight the significant role of advanced materials in the future of sustainable cities and healthcare for example lightweighting transport, battery technology and indoor farming and biomaterial to help meet the city region’s 2038 carbon neutral target.

Greater Manchester provides an innovation eco-system where scientists, manufacturers and engineers can collaborate to accelerate new advanced material innovations into practice and interested parties will be urged to connect with MIDAS to help them on the innovation journey.
