India's Top 5 Tech SMEs Win Manchester Establishment Packages

Categories: Digital and Technology

Indian digital tech SMEs BIZOM, e-Zest, ZIFO, BRIDGEi2i and Appnomic Systems will be travelling to the UK next year after being announced as winners of Manchester establishment support packages to help Indian tech companies set up a European operation. This was part of the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 contest which recognises India’s emerging and most dynamic tech businesses.

MIDAS, Manchester’s inward investment agency, offered five of Deloitte’s 2017 Technology Fast 50 winners the opportunity to win a support package worth over ₹1m. The prize includes complimentary flights to Manchester in April 2018 and three night’s deluxe accommodation.

Manchester has a strong digital infrastructure and has the UK’s second highest proportion of tech companies wanting to establish themselves in one of the city region’s flourishing hubs including MediaCityUK. At the heart of the UK’s ‘Northern Powerhouse’, Manchester is driving innovation across the region and is an ideal business and trade destination for Indian companies to get a foothold in the UK marketplace.

Europe’s top city for business competitiveness, Manchester visited some of India’s key IT hubs in the National Capital Region, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore to attract India’s top firms to the North of England and build new and existing relationships within the market. As a critical market for Indian investors, Manchester also showcased its strengths in digital excellence.

Home to HCL Technologies, Hero Cycles, Aegis and the 2016 winner of the Deloitte Fast 50 contest, 42Gears, Manchester has established itself as a choice business destination for Indian companies.

Rajiv Sundar, Partner, Deloitte India, said: “The Technology Fast 50 program recognizes the fastest growing technology businesses in India based on their percentage revenue growth over the past three financial years. It is a recognition of both their growth and ambition.

“It is a pleasure that MIDAS has decided to continue its association with our program Tech Fast50 for the second consecutive year and hosted interaction events for Deloitte’s Technology Fast50 2017 winners.”

India is central to Manchester’s highly successful Internationalisation Strategy, intended to strengthen relations and create further bilateral trade opportunities. A key element of the Strategy is the ‘Make in IndiaInnovate with Manchester’ initiative, aimed at matching Manchester’s world-class science and innovation capability with Indian industry and academia.

Dan Storer, Director, Business Development, MIDAS, said: “The Deloitte Fast 50 is an effective way for Manchester to promote its world-class digital and technology offer and attract some of India’s most exciting high growth companies. With the support of our partners, this year’s Manchester establishment package promised to be bigger and better and we would like to congratulate all winners and look forward to seeing them in Manchester.

“Manchester’s digital and technology cluster is already one Europe’s most significant centres and provides the ideal environment for Indian high-growth companies to thrive.

“Like 42Gears and now BIZOM, e-Zest, Zifo, BRIDGEi2i and Appnomic Systems, we welcome Indian tech companies with a desire to enhance Manchester’s digital ecosystem and by expanding into the UK, take advantage of national and international market opportunities.”

The Manchester city region is a great place to live, study, visit and work and is always seeking ways to do business with creative, digital and tech sector investors from the international community.

Kaushik Sindhu, Associate Vice President, Head of 42Gears EU/UK, said: “Winning the 2016 Deloitte Fast 50 contest presented a great international opportunity for our company and Manchester is an exciting city to do business. Within the first few months of being established in Manchester, 42Gears has been introduced to key businesses, academic and have attended a series or networking events organised by MIDAS.”
