US-based global IT trade association CompTIA has named Manchester as the number 1 UK city for IT careers in the UK Tech Town Index 2019. Considering a range of factors including projected growth in IT demands, IT investments, R&D and cost of living, and coming in the same week that saw tech giant Huawei open a 5G network design centre in the city, this assessment shows that specialist tech talents are making their way to Manchester, creating careers and driving economic success.

The report cited Manchester;

“has become a magnet for industry… the kind that powers global trade and technological innovation.

Reflecting the Manchester position at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse and with an airport providing truly global connectivity, the report further noted;

“Set among 22 universities, all within one hours drive of the city, it’s understandable that Manchester came to be a hub for technology and the exchange of ideas. Its international airport and relative proximity to London (just over 2 hours by train) keep this city bustling and internationally relevant.”
