Significant investment in the site includes more than 40 new jobs open for applications now.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has officially opened its new office at the Manchester Technology Centre and announced a recruitment drive in the city.

Yesterday, the company hosted staff and guests from all over the country at a launch event hosted by Marc Waters, HPE’s Managing Director for UK & Ireland. The Manchester Technology Centre site with seats for over 140 employees will serve as a temporary home in the city before HPE moves into office space at Manchester’s new city neighbourhood, Circle Square, in 2020.

HPE has made a long term commitment to the city and is currently advertising for more than 40 brand new roles at the new office which are open for applications now. The company is currently seeking 15 apprentices, as well as graduates, early careers and experienced hires to start work at the new Manchester city centre office. Open roles include sales, pre-sales and business analysts with additional recruitment planned later in the year. Other staff are moving to Manchester from existing HPE sites in Warrington, London, Bracknell and Erskine, near Glasgow.

The company, which operates across seven locations in the UK in Bracknell, London, Manchester, Bristol, Belfast, Warrington, and Erskine will have capacity to locate almost 300 of its UK employees at its new Circle Square home. HPE aims to complete the move into No. 1 Circle Square, occupying 20,000 square feet on the seventh floor, in summer 2020. HPE will take up a 10-year lease for the managed office space, which includes over 200 permanent seats, and capacity for almost 100 more in secondary seating.

Marc Waters, Managing Director, UK & Ireland, HPE said:

“Today we officially open our office at the Manchester Technology Centre which is the first step towards our permanent Manchester office in Circle Square. Manchester is vibrant, innovative and growing, so is well aligned with our business and our culture. People make companies and as we continue to grow, recruiting and developing talent is a priority. Manchester is a growth location, we currently have over 40 open roles with more to follow. We bring together the brightest minds to advance the way people live and work. Come and get involved!”

Tim Newns, CEO of MIDAS - Manchester's Inward Investment Agency comments:

“Manchester has long been renowned as a city with digital in its DNA. For Manchester to attract investment and jobs growth from global tech giant HPE firmly demonstrates the depth and scale of specialist tech talent that’s making us the location of choice for ambitious firms."

The interim office at Manchester Technology Centre has been custom designed to HPE’s specifications, including the use of networking technology from Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, with management provided by HPE Pointnext.
