MultiTime announces expansion plans for Manchester following surge in global appetite for more flexible working into the future

MultiTime, the award-winning developer and supplier of flexible working, time and attendance and employee scheduling solutions, is today announcing its expansion into Manchester with the opening of a new office in Central Manchester, and the recruitment of experienced personnel to drive further business growth in the Greater Manchester area. The move follows an exponential surge in demand for more flexible working arrangements, and thus a need for robust IT solutions across businesses to facilitate this, and ensuring ongoing productivity and accountability.

MultiTime is the UK subsidiary of FlexTime, which was established in Dublin in 1983 by flexitime pioneer Ciaran Rowsome, and currently counts HM Passport Office, The London Borough of Lewishham, University of Bermingham, Axa Insurance, Sir Robert McAlpine Limited, Denbighshire Council, as clients across the UK and in Republic Of Ireland, The Department of The Taoiseach (Prime Minister’s office in Ireland), Ticketmaster and Bank of Ireland amongst others.

In speaking about the expansion, Ciaran Rowsome, CEO of MultiTime, which counts 400 customers across Europe, and 200,000 users across Government, Universities and Financial Services and SME’s, said:

“Expansion has been steady for MultiTime, spanning our 40 year history, but we could never have envisaged pre-Covid how rapidly we would need to grow this year, to play a role in enabling hundreds of organizations to pivot and meet increasing demands for more flexible, effective and tailored IT solutions for their businesses.”

Manchester, now one of the most innovative cities in the world, with a growing status as the UK’s hotbed for innovation, has become a destination of choice for many in the digital development, financial services and manufacturing sectors – all of which aligns well with the MultiTime core service offering.

Rowsome continued:

“This, combined with the recent call by Government for flexible working to be normalized, and heightening demand amongst UK employees for permanent flexible working arrangements, is evidence of the scale of the business opportunity for MultiTime in the UK and beyond. Our bespoke IT solutions enable companies, large and small to deploy more flexible working hours, giving employees greater control over their role and their daily lives, thus reducing absenteeism, the need for overtime, and ultimately staff turnover.”

“ Our VisionTime system, essentially a web enabled staff scheduling system, also revolutionises the management of staff working time rotas whilst enabling efficient shift arrangements – a gamechanger for large-scale manufacturing and/or retail businesses across Manchester, the UK and beyond.”

“ The expansion of MultiTime into Manchester is both strategic and incredibly timely, not least as Minister for Women & Equalities, Liz Truss, recently called for businesses to normalize flexible working across the country. She believes the move will boost employment in areas away from major cities and help ‘turbocharge opportunities for women – who are twice as likely as men to work flexibly’. Indeed flexible working is shown to increase the productivity and morale of workers, and Truss says making it an option will help address the UK’s longstanding productivity gap and help ‘level-up the country’. Truss continued “The shift for many people to work from home during the pandemic has changed mindsets and now is a chance to seize the opportunity of making flexible working the norm, rather than something employees have to specially request. The fact is that for many jobs there are invisible restrictions that hold people back – like the need to live in high-cost accommodation close to the centre of cities or maintain working arrangements that are very hard to combine with family or other responsibilities. We now have the chance to break down these barriers and boost opportunities for everyone.”

Tim Newns, CEO, MIDAS, the inward investment promotion agency for Manchester, added:

“ MultiTime has seen significant growth in recent years and I have no doubt that Manchester, with its innovation heritage, diverse economy and global connectivity, is the perfect place to support their next stage of success with their highly relevant offering of flexible and agile working. Having shared insights into Greater Manchester’s key sector strengths and assisted with recruiting expert talent,  we are delighted to welcome this award-winning business into the city region and very much look forward to supporting them as they grow their future operations here.”
