Amstone has announced that Keady Construction has been appointed as the main contractor to build No.1 Knightsbridge in Stockport. The project will start on site in the first quarter of 2027 and will be delivered in phases over the following 2.5 years.
No.1 Knightsbridge is a new, high quality residential development on the site of the former Sainsbury’s supermarket in Stockport town centre. Delivering 588 apartments, the scheme is in the proximity of numerous local amenities, including the iconic market hall, The Underbanks, Red Rock cinema, independent leisure and retail, Mersey Way Shopping Centre and The Peel Centre. It will act as a catalyst for the Council’s strategic placemaking aspirations and is also one of the largest projects being delivered in the Town Centre East masterplan.
Set inside three residential blocks, with heights of five to 15 storeys, the scheme has extensive external amenity, private gardens and basement car parking. The proposals will also open up the River Mersey frontage for the first time in generations. Detailed planning permission was granted in January 2025.
Keady Construction Limited is part of the wider OHOB Group, with a turnover close to £400m. Keady is a main contractor in the residential, commercial and education sectors. The company describes itself as a “modern contractor” with a genuine drive to deliver value for money for its clients in every aspect of its work and a desire to protect the environment. The company’s value for money philosophy is demonstrated by seeking to use less raw materials in the building process and investing more time and money in the design process.
Adnan Siddiqi, Director at Amstone Ventures said: “We were attracted to Keady Construction due to their significant experience in the residential sector and their philosophy on design and the environment. They’ve recently completed 31-storey tower comprising 399 high quality PRS apartments on Skinner Street in Leeds, which perfectly places them to move quickly onto our Stockport site, bringing that experience with them.
Kieran Dougan, Director at Keady Construction said: “No.1 Knightsbridge is a great opportunity for us to continue our work on landmark residential projects in the north of England. Having just completed a major private rented sector project in Leeds for Ridgeback group, I’m excited to add Amstone to our roster of clients which also includes Peel Holdings and L&G.”
