Against the backdrop of Manchester's iconic Town Hall and St Peter's Square skyline, MIDAS and Marketing Manchester hosted city-region leaders yesterday evening at KPMG’s offices for an insightful 'in conversation' event with Tom Stannard, Chief Executive of Manchester City Council. 

The exclusive session provided Manchester at MIPIM partners with a valuable opportunity to hear Stannard's vision for the city-region's future, diving deep into Greater Manchester's growth and the Council's key priorities under new leadership. 

During the session Tom spoke of the importance of connecting developments and opportunities with the community, and how his long-term commitment will focus on three key areas; homes and affordable housing, health, and skills for all ages.  

During the audience Q&A session, Stannard emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between businesses and cities, highlighting how shared learning and partnership working are crucial for future success.

The Manchester delegation at MIPIM 2025 will include representatives from all ten Greater Manchester local authorities and over forty private sector partners. MIDAS's Managing Director Joe Manning joined other city leaders at the event, reinforcing the importance of Manchester's presence on the global stage. 

Speaking about Manchester's upcoming presence at MIPIM, MIDAS Managing Director Joe Manning, who was at the discussion emphasised the importance of the international property event: “MIPIM provides a platform to showcase Manchester as the UK's leading growth opportunity.  

“The conversations and connections help Manchester maintain its position alongside the world's leading cities. I look forward to discussing our 10-year investment pipeline with the international investment community.” 

Key developments in Greater Manchester include Victoria North, one of the UK's largest regeneration projects, which will deliver 15,000 homes across seven new neighbourhoods, and the ambitious Holt Town transformation, set to create 4,500 new homes while connecting Manchester's city centre with Sports City and the Etihad Campus. 

The Manchester pavilion at MIPIM 2025 will serve as a hub for international investors, developers, and business leaders to engage with the key stakeholders shaping Manchester's future, reinforcing the city-region's position as a premier destination for global investment and sustainable growth.
