MIDAS, Manchester's inward investment agency, has continued to demonstrate its commitment to fostering young talent and driving investment in Greater Manchester with a series of new hires.

The organisation has welcomed three promising graduates to its team, further strengthening its ability to attract and support businesses in the region. 

 

Greater Manchester has become increasingly more popular for young talent, with graduates from universities across the city-region and the UK choosing to live and work in Greater Manchester after their studies.  

 

The new additions, will all take on the role of Business Development Executives across the key sectors, including Advanced Manufacturing and Low Carbon, Financial Professional and Business Services, and Creative, Digital, and Technology, to bring fresh perspectives and academic excellence to MIDAS’ sectors.  

 

Their role at MIDAS is to support international companies to establish a presence and grow in Greater Manchester, with a strategic aim to help secure significant levels of new investment for the city region to create and safeguard jobs.   

 

This involves meeting with businesses and establishing their needs, developing bespoke propositions with individual data insights to assist senior executives with decision making, carry out in-visits to showcase Manchester to international companies and connecting new and existing investors with key ecosystem partners, universities and recruiters to assist them to grow their own network and talent pool.  

 

A Key part of the MIDAS Business Development Executive role is sourcing and securing the right property solution for the client and the team work alongside Manchester and national agents to sift through the ever growing portfolio of Manchester developments, incubators and serviced office space.  

 

MIDAS has successfully supported hundreds of businesses relocate to or expand in Greater Manchester.

Eloise Perrot, joined the Creative Digital and Technology team this year as a Business Development Executive.  

 

Bringing a unique blend of historical insight and modern economic understanding to the role, Eloise completed her undergraduate degree in Modern History with Economics at the University of Manchester, followed by a part-time postgraduate degree in International Development: Globalisation, Industry and Trade.  

 

Her academic journey included a research project in Uganda, providing valuable international experience, which she’ll be bringing to her role at MIDAS.  

 

On choosing Manchester, Eloise said:

“I had never visited Manchester until my parents dropped me off the week prior to my undergraduate degree. All the new experiences and friendships I developed throughout University had this beautiful city as their backdrop and it very quickly began to feel like home. There is so much to do in Manchester - cafés, bars, walking through the peaks - and it is great being walking distance from my friends, work and the nightlife." 

Lucas Atherton, joined the Advanced Manufacturing team in August 2024 as a Business Development Executive.  

 

A recent graduate from the University of East Anglia with a degree in International Development and Economics and originally from the North West, Lucas brings a global perspective to MIDAS’ advanced manufacturing team.  

 

Lucas considered a move to London, however, eventually decided on Greater Manchester to start his career after university, said:

“I chose to live in Manchester because it is an up-and-coming city that offers the same amount of experiences as London but without the London premium price. I also chose to live here as it is close to the countryside so you get a good balance of city and countryside living.”  

 

Isabelle Southeran, joined the Financial, Professional and Business Services team as a Business Development Executive in September 2024.    

 

Also hailing from the University of East Anglia, Isabelle completed a BSc in Economics and Finance.  

 

Her strong understanding of economic principles, financial markets, and data analysis aligns perfectly with her new role at MIDAS.  

 

When asked about choosing Manchester, Isabelle shared,

"Growing up, I have always seen Manchester as a vibrant city with boundless opportunities. Its strong sense of community, culture, and industry aligns perfectly with my career aspirations and makes it an ideal choice for my professional growth." 

 

As Manchester continues to solidify its position as a leading destination for business and innovation, the integration of the new hires into MIDAS's workforce is part of a broader strategy to nurture young talent and create a pipeline of skilled professionals who understand the process of inward investment and regional economic development.
