VUCA Treasury, a specialist hedging advisor in interest rate, currency and commodity markets, has announced its expansion into Manchester as part of a new phase of growth.
Founded in London in 2019 by former banking and capital markets professionals, VUCA Treasury is establishing a regional base in Manchester to serve businesses across the North West and support the region’s dynamic real estate and corporate markets.
The firm has appointed David Mathewson as Regional Director and Treasury Advisor to lead its North West operations.
Mathewson brings more than 25 years’ experience in treasury and risk management, advising corporates on how to navigate complex financial markets. He joined VUCA Treasury in 2024 and supports clients across the Midlands and North West in managing interest rate, foreign exchange and wider treasury exposures.
Prior to joining VUCA Treasury, Mathewson spent nearly two decades at Lloyds Banking Group where he was Director of Large Corporate Rates, working with some of the UK’s largest listed, private, and PE-backed companies.
The move underlines VUCA Treasury’s commitment to providing locally based, expert advice. The new Manchester base will provide on-the-ground expertise for the region’s real estate and corporate sectors, offering tailored support on interest rate hedging and treasury risk management.
David Mathewson, Regional Director and Treasury Advisor at VUCA Treasury, said: “Having worked in Manchester for more than 20 years, I’ve seen first-hand how the region’s businesses have matured and become more ambitious. Many now face complex financial exposures that require specialist, independent advice. Our expansion means that companies here can access the same level of expertise that’s typically been concentrated in London but with local insight, long-term relationships, and a deep understanding of the regional economy at the core of it.”
Martin Mulligan, Founder of VUCA Treasury, said: “Manchester is one of the UK’s most dynamic financial and property markets, and it’s where so much business growth is happening. Establishing a presence here boosts our national footprint and reinforces our commitment to supporting clients in the UK and Ireland."
VUCA Treasury now has national coverage and more than 100 years of combined banking experience across treasury and capital markets. The firm helps clients make informed decisions about the financial risks that stem from strategic and operational choices, particularly in sectors sensitive to interest rate and currency movements.
