Enterprise Zones

Established in 2012, Enterprise Zones are designated areas that provide businesses with tax breaks and UK Government support.  They are great places to do business especially for businesses investing and expanding into the region.

Businesses located in an Enterprise Zone can benefit from:

• Up to 100% business rate discount worth up to £275,000 per business over a 5-year period;
• Simplified local authority planning within specified areas;
• Government support to ensure that superfast broadband is rolled out throughout the zone if it isn’t already in place

Manchester Airport City

All Enterprise Zones have reduced business rates, simplified planning and super-fast broadband, but only one has direct flights to over 200 destinations, its own global logistics hub and a world-class research hospital.

Corridor Manchester

The Corridor Manchester Enterprise Zone is located in the heart of the city’s innovation district. An extension of Manchester Airport City, its aim is to position the North West as a leading innovation cluster.

This Enterprise Zone includes two sites; Citylabs 1.0, a biomedical centre of excellence and Manchester Science Partnership (MSP) Central Campus, which offers a range of workspaces for health, life sciences, advanced materials/engineering and digital tech companies. 

Already home to over 120 life sciences, pharmaceutical, healthcare and technology academics, clinicians and world-leading health institutions, Corridor Manchester is part of a large ecosystem contributing to the economic and social dynamism of one of Europe's leading cities.
